Prices include fees each seller lists on its product page (such as physician, order or draw fees). Some sellers charge a per-order fee once however many tests you add, so ordering several tests from one seller can cost less than the sum of single-test prices; see longevity panel cost and heart panel cost. Near-match listings (a related but different test) are left out of the lowest price.
Why prices differ so much
The same test can be listed at very different prices: the 12 lowest prices above add up to $284.98, while the median listings are usually higher. Sellers set their own prices, use different labs (Quest or Labcorp), and include different fees. TestWell's ApoB page, for example, says that "with insurance you pay your plan's negotiated rate against your deductible", while its own price "is fixed before the draw". Prices change; each test page shows the date we checked.
Before you order
- Check the seller's state limits; several cannot serve New York, New Jersey or Rhode Island.
- Check what the price includes (draw fee, physician order); the "Listed fees" column on each test page shows what we found.
- See insurance and HSA/FSA for lab tests for paying with a health account.
This page compares listed prices. Which tests to order is a question for a clinician.
